MISSION/OUTREACH NOTES

The Mission/Outreach Team is sponsoring a “Sneaker Tree” during the summermonths.  We will be collecting sneakers of all sizes, kid’s  size 1through adult , for Clothes-to-Kids, one of our mission partners.  If youwould like to help them  as they gears up to provide back-to-schoolclothes for 1,000’s of needy children in our area, just pick up a new pair ofsneakers, girls or boys for young or older child.  All styles and allsizes are needed.  The tree is up in the sanctuary foyer.

What is our mission?  What about outreach?  These are questions thatwe need to discuss and the discussions will begin on Sunday morning, July 6 at9:45 a.m. with coffee & donuts.

I BELIEVE
By Jonathan Thornton
...organization is over-rated.
...everyone has a purpose in life.
...nothing is impossible.
...a Pizza Hut hand tossed stuffed crust pizza     with extracheese, ham,
black olives, and pineapple is the best pizza.
...Heaven looks like the chocolate room in Willy Wonka’s factory.
...NO creature is insignificant.
...Fridays should be considered international     holidays.
...you could do anything if you set your mind to it.
...one of the most valuable assets is a good sense of humor.
...the weekends should be 3 days and the weekdays four.
...movies should always have happy endings.

Member of the Week
The “Member of the Week” program has been an ongoing part of the ministry of Emmanuel Church for over 3 years. Everyone has been honored at least once, and many more often than that. In order to revise the list and make certain that newer members are included we will be taking a few months off. Look for the program to start up again after the 1st of the year. In the meantime ...

WHAT CAN I DO?
Ever ask yourself that question? There is poverty, hunger, homelessness and abuse all around us, but the problems seem so large that we wonder if there is anything we can actually do. Well, here is a way we can all do a little in order to make things change a lot.

Each week there will be a suggested item that you can purchase (or take from your own cupboard) to be collected at church. All items received will be going to one of the programs that is run by R.C.S.

For less than the price of a greeting card and stamp you can begin to make a difference in our community.
